Lot 26 was born on May 21, 2019 and is out of our buck Memory Maker a son of 9601. He was raised an orphan which brings me to a little story. Lot 26 is shy of being in sale shape but the auction is August 24th whether he is ready or not. Our policy for nearly two decades has been we offer goats we believe to be healthy whether they are in sale shape or not. Our thinking being we want every wether to run through the public auction where every buyer has the opportunity to purchase him. Auction day will most likely be the cheapest any wether will ever be offered as we believe we have the ability to make a wether better with a little time and effort on our part. We have FFA advisors come to our auctions to vet these wethers for their students that need a cheaper start. It is not uncommon for Grand Champions to come out of our tail-enders. Lot 26 has a good skeleton and tracks well. I would feed him for sure. A wether that had a hard upbringing is just like a street wise teenager. It's hard to rattle them or make them fall apart on show day!!!

We've had callers that have never attended one of our auctions express some concern about the auction format. They have heard of wethers selling for 10's of thousands of dollars at other auctions and assume a trip to Dublin, Texas would be some of the same. We have a low floor price and do not have phantom buyers protecting (bidding up) our offerings. If a wether gets a bid over floor, he has a new owner! There may be a few wethers that go over $1,000 or higher but the average price has been around $700 the last few years. Quality wethers at a fair price that win!!!
