Marlin Model 1881 lever action rifle, .38-55 caliber, Serial #20690. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 28” octagon barrel with a silver knife blade front and standard rear sights. The barrel and full-length magazine retain a significant amount of muted blue finish with the remainder going to plum patina. The barrel features sharp edges with high point edge wear and small mars noted. The receiver has gone to a plum patina with some original blue in protected areas. The lever and hammer show old, toned case hardening. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with mars, compressions and an old coat of varnish added. The butt stock ends with a smooth, steel crescent butt plate. The bore is fair, the markings are sharp and action is crisp on this early Model 1881 circa 1888. $700-$1,700. (Antique).
