Lead Springfield Mo. 1840 aka Mo. 1835 Conversion
Description
to Percussion. Belgian conversion rifled for Civil War use and issued to volunteers. .69 Cal Rifled Bore near Excellent, Mechanics Excellent, Wood Very Good Plus with cartouche. Couple dings in the stock on right side and initials on the left side. Has 42" Round Barrel with the bayonet lug on the underside. Tang is dated 1842 and the proofs are excellent VP eagle head. Lock plate is marked Springfield 1840 with a strong eagle US marking. Has original sling swivels, tampion and a replacement ramrod. Metal overall has a aged gray finish with a little fine pitting in areas. The nipple area isn't pitted. Nice Civil War musket. - (Antique, No FFL)
