Description
"Vegetal Hyposubjects" describes my love for experiencing wild and cultivated landscapes in Kansas. The cast edible plants in the piece came from small-scale growers in the Kansas City - Lawrence area and were first used to create "Kansas City Reciprocity" for the new KCI airport. By whimsically arranging the vegetables in this piece, I wanted to portray them as belonging among native perennial plant species in the prairie. "Vegetal Hyposubjects" is featured in this year's Field Journal, among a few other of my works centered around the creativity of land stewardship." Composite Resin, Fiberglass, Muslin, and Acrylic Paint on Plywood. 34H x 29W. Sean Nash is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Kansas City, KS. His 2022 public commission for the new KCI Airport was dedicated to six local farmers, featuring casts of their favorite things to grow. Artist is a 2023 Charlotte Street Foundation Visual Artist Award Fellow.
