Lead ANDREI ZADOROZNY OIL ON BOARD 1957
Description
WORK 23.5 X 19.5 INCHES - FRAME 29.75 X 26 INCHES - 100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL GO TO BENEFIT UKRAINIAN CLUB OF MONCTON SPECIFICALLY THEY AIM TO UTILIZE THE FUNDS RAISED FROM THE SALE TO ACQUIRE AN EVACUATION VEHICLE FOR THE MEDICAL PERSONNEL WHO TIRELESSLY EVACUATE THE WOUNDED ALONG THE ZAPORIZHZHIA DIRECTION. A very talented artist, Andreï Michael Zadorozny was born into a noble family on May 27, 1921, in Borsziv, Ukraine. In his native country, a great loneliness deeply marked his childhood, having been kept away from the games that animate children of his age while, very young, he had to be a serious little man, supervised as he was, by a tutor responsible for his education. Then shortly before the war, in 1937, he was already sixteen years old, he arrived in Canada. Subsequently, at the age of twenty-five, he began studies at the École des Beaux Arts de Montréal (1946-1949) under the tutelage of Arthur Lismer, Goodrich Roberts and Jacques de Tonnencourt. In addition, it is more than likely that he was also influenced by A. Paul Weber, who made him say that “art is found first in the soul of the artist. » Later, he himself became a visual arts teacher at Father McDonald High School in Ville Saint-Laurent, where he loved teaching art to anyone who felt ready to receive it. Very intimate with nature and having developed an exceptional affinity for light and colors, he obviously painted to the rhythm of his most spontaneous impulses. “This art is not made for eyes accustomed to delighting in vague sunsets or popular calendars. His art is there for strong and tempered souls” wrote of him in Petit Journal, Rolland Boulanger, in 1950. Already in 1962, the sometimes classic, sometimes wild beauty of his watercolors irremediably distanced him from the fragility of the watercolorists of the time. Endowed with an ardent temperament, this naturally made him a great enthusiast who devoted his entire life to his work, and at the same time categorically refusing any compromise which would have had the effect of distorting his art. “I will never agree to paint with the aim of selling my works. Even if my work does not succeed in making me live, I will continue to paint following my instinct and my own nature.” As fiery as a wild horse ( sic), he was particularly fond of all forms in motion. Endowed with a proud, intense and fierce spirit, we should not be surprised that he was gradually led to reject modern art which represented no interest in his eyes. He was constantly tormented by great sadness: had he not been absent at the time of the death of his mother whom he loved, and above all separated from his children for several years... The artist lived alone in a small room for ten long years. This is how, repudiated by his family and ignored by his peers, he fled the crowds although he always appreciated the contact of people who, like him, were passionate about discussing art, literature or music. classic. Andrei M. Zadorozny died of cancer on February 15, 2001. Alas! Suffering from Alzheimer's disease for the last five years, his eyesight and memory failing him, he hardly painted anymore. However, true to himself, he lived intensely until the end alongside his beloved partner with whom he had shared his life since 1974. This extraordinary contemporary artist leaves to posterity a considerable body of work full of generosity. and wisdom recognized at its true value by a wide audience. Works by this great painter can be found in several collections of Canadian and American Museums as well as several corporate and private collections.
