Lead WWII 20th Air Force Aerial Gunner A-2 Grouping
Description
U.S. WWII 20th Air Force Aerial Gunner Grouping with A-2 Jacket. A fantastic painted A-2 leather jacket and service coat for a member of the 42nd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy). This was one of the squadrons of the 11th Bombardment Group of the Seventh Air Force. This squadron was on duty at Hickam Field, Hawaii, on 7 December 1941 when the Japanese attacked the US forces there. Elements of the squadron participated in the Battle of Midway. In July 1942, the squadron was ordered to the South Pacific, flying from Plaines de Gaiac on New Caledonia, Espiritu Santo, and Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. Jacket has the squadron insignia painted on the left breast pockets, 7th Air Force emblem on the left sleeve and the China Burma, India (CBI) emblem on the right sleeve. Gov’t contract collar tag is present, indicating manufacture by Aero Leather of Beacon, N.Y. The service coat retains 7th AAF and CBI patches, period correct sterling aerial gunners wings, sergeants chevrons, and plastic covered ribbons. A-2 is supple with some moth damage visible to the original knit waist band and sleeve cuff. These are normally replaced on A-2 jackets that saw extensive service. Also original is the Talon brand zipper which is mostly functional. Please be sure to review all photos. F16-1

Bidders are to comply with the Terms and Conditions of Sale, posted on GrenadierAuctions.com, at the time of the auction in which they are participating. These Terms and Conditions are subject to change without prior written notice at any time, in GMAA’s sole discretion. Once an item(s) has been sent to Grenadier Auctions, and received by Grenadier Auctions, it must be run in at least one (1) auction before it can be sent back to the consignor. Buyer's Premium : 15% Sales Tax : All sales are subject to applicable state and local taxes. Any lots that are picked up and/or delivered (shipped) in the state of California are subject to applicable state and local taxes. Payment : All merchandise must be paid for within TEN (10) days of the close of auction. We reserve the right to cancel any unpaid order after that time and to ban the bidder from future sales. Invoices will be automatically charged to the credit card on file 72 hours after the close of the auction. If you wish to pay by another method please contact us within 72 hours. Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), personal checks, certified checks, money orders, and wire transfers are all accepted. Invoices and/or balances which are paid for via credit card will have the processing fee added to the balance. Personal checks, money orders and cashier’s checks may be held for up to 10 business days in order to allow time for them to clear the appropriate banking channels. Please email info@grenadierauctions.com for bank-wiring instructions. You may receive a message stating you may have won : This massage states "You may have won." Please disregard this message. This is automatically generated by the auction software and has no relevance to your bidding or items won. It basically means that you have the high bid on the item, but the reserve has not been met. If you have a winning bid, you will be notified directly by us via an invoice within 72 hours from the close of auction. Return Policy : All lots are sold “as is.” A three-day inspection period is standard with all items purchased. Once an item is received by the buyer, you will then have a three day window to notify us that you will be returning the item. The item then must be received by GMAA within 10 days from notification, unaltered and in the same condition as sent to receive a refund. Any lot viewed by the buyer or anyone on buyer’s behalf prior to the auction may not be returned. This is not an approval sale. All sales of lots to the highest bidder are final. Bidders are strongly advised and encouraged to research any lots upon which they plan to bid, and to determine bids, based upon their own evaluation. Please feel free to contact us prior to the end of sale with any questions that you may have regarding an item offered for sale in the auction. GMAA makes every effort to accurately describe all items offered in its sales. Shipping : Shipment of auction winnings usually starts within 14 bussiness days from the close of auction and continues for the next week or two as payments are received. Overseas buyers please note that it can sometimes take several weeks for your item to make it's way through the customs service of your country, which does ad extra time to it's delivery. Grenadier Auctions strongly recommends insuring the package which contains your winnings. Your invoice will reflect the cost of US Postal insurance, which is the actual USPS cost with no up-charge. If you choose not to insure your package we must receive an email from you stating that you are declining this coverage, as we cannot be responsible for packages which are shipped without insurance coverage. A special note about third party deliveries. Some overseas customers have requested that their purchases be delivered to U.S. addresses where they sometimes sit for months before being picked up and inspected. Unfortunately in this case we cannot honor the three day inspection period (which begins the day that the items are delivered), as in most cases the consignor has already been paid. We suggest that you perhaps have the receiving party inspect the items for you if possible within the three day period, as items shipped in this manner cannot be returned after the three day period has expired. Grenadier Auctions also assumes no responsibility for packages once they have been delivered to a third party. International Shipping : Please email questions to info@grenadierauctions.com. Payment for all international orders is required in US funds. Please contact us for bank wiring instructions. Customs requirements for each country are the responsibility of the buyer. All packages shipped outside of the United States will include the required customs declaration and full value of the invoice. If the USPS provides Insurance to your country it will be added to the shipping costs. If Insurance is declined by the buyer we must be contacted and made aware that you are declining insurance. Once an uninsured package leaves the possession of the United States post office and is in the custody of the postal service of the buyers native country, Grenadier Auctions will not be responsible for lost or damaged packages or items. If Insurance is not available to your country Grenadier Auctions is not responsible for lost or damaged packages as well. Rights & Responsibilities : GMAA will determine the highest bidder. GMAA, alone, has the right to reopen the bidding for an item, if deemed necessary. Title to all merchandise shall pass to the winning bidder after receipt of good funds by GMAA. Bidders will be held responsible for their bids, including those bids placed incorrectly. PLEASE VERIFY BIDS BEFORE SUBMITTING THEM. In order to have a bid removed or corrected, bidder must contact GMAA prior to start of the auction. Bidder waives GMAA’s responsibility and holds GMAA harmless for failure to recognize, accept, receive or execute any lost or missing bids by internet, telephone, email, mail or other means. GMAA reserves the right to postpone or cancel an auction without notice. Lots may be withdrawn at GMAA’s discretion, without prior notice. Lots may carry a reserve.
