Harvey Estate: To All Who Knew Him, Willard "Bill" Harvey Was A Tremendous Modeler, Avid Collector, And An Unfailingly Friendly And Good-Natured Man. The Breadth Of His Railroad Interest Is Obvious From The Contents Of His Collection Of HO Scale Models, Containing A Wonderful Variety Of High-Quality Equipment From Railroads Across The Country. Bill's Self-Described Phrase That He "Just Loved Trains!" Is More Than Evident As One Considers The Beautiful And Varied Models In His Collection. Bill's First Love Was Surely Steam Locomotives. From The 1950s Through The 2000s, He Acquired Top-Quality Brass Models. Some Are New In The Box, Many Factory-Painted And Some Unpainted; Some Were Given Excellent Paint Jobs By Bill. This Outstanding Collection Includes Great Locomotives From (But Not Limited To) NKP, B&O, C&O, N&W, WM, CRR, NYC, PRR, NH, L&N, NC&St.L, CB&Q, MILW, GN, UP, SLSF, And D&RGW. In A Number Of Instances (Like NKP, C&O, And B&O), Bill's Locomotives In Both Number And Quality Make An Outstanding Collection For That Road Alone! Equally Important To Bill Was His Passion For, And Knowledge Of, Passenger Equipment. When He Retired In The Early 1990s He Founded The Company NKP Car Sides With, As The Name Suggests, The Original Purpose Of Making High-Quality Extremely Accurate Car Sides For NKP Passenger Equipment. This Quickly Expanded Into Offerings For Car Sides From Railroads Across The Country. Bill Sold The Business In The Early 2000s, But Continued Building Passenger Cars, Both For Himself And For Many Customers, Into The 2010s. His Outstanding Modeling Skills Are Never Better Illustrated Than When Considering His Remarkable Passenger Equipment. Similar To His Steam Locomotives, His Passenger Train Consists Represent The Postwar Offerings Of MANY Major American Railroads. In Addition To Cars He Built (Not Only Using His Own NKP Car Sides But Also Car Sides Made By Brass Car Sides And Laser Horizons), They Include Outstanding Brass And Plastic Models. Railroads And Consists Represented Include, But Again Are Not Limited To, B&O's Capitol & National Limiteds As Well As Secondary Trains; An Incredibly Complete Representation Of NKP Passenger Equipment; The NYC's Ohio State Limited; A Great C&O Collection; Streamlined Equipment From The ACL And SAL; Wonderful Equipment From The SOU (And L&N And N&W) Representing The Crescent Limited, Tennessean, And Southerner; GN's Empire Builder; UP's City Streamliners; SLSF/MKT's Texas Special; MILW Hiawatha Equipment; And D&RGW's Prospector And Rio Grande Zephyr. In Many Cases The Steam Locomotives Described Above Were Associated With A Specific Passenger Train, And Vice-Versa: For Instance, N&W J's And The Tennessean; C&O 4-6-4s And 4-8-4's And The George Washington; And GN And UP 4-8-4s And The Empire Builder And City Streamliners (Bill's Love Of Steam Was Such That He Often Exercised "Modeler's License" And Envisioned Postwar Streamliners Powered By Modern Steam Locomotives, In An Era When Most Were Dieselized). In Addition To Steam Locomotives And Passenger Equipment, Bill Had Many High-Quality Diesels, Including Outstanding Brass As Well As Many Plastic Models. Once Again, Many Were Chosen To Power His Passenger Trains: E-Units, F-Units, And Alcos From Roads Like NH, NYC, B&O, SAL, ACL, SOU, GN, And D&RGW. Unsurprisingly, His NKP Diesel Roster Is Of Particular Note. His Interest Spanned Multiple Decades, From Prewar Cab Units To Modern Hood Diesels Of The Late 1990s. His Freight Equipment Is Copious And Varied, Again Covering Many Decades. Of Particular Interest To Collectors Will Be His High-Quality Metal Freight Cars From The 1950s, Beautifully Painted And Decaled. Speaking Of The Latter, Bill Also Had A Large Supply Of Unused Quality Decals. Bill Was A Modeler Of The Very First Rank, And His Lifetime Collection Offers Many Treasures!
