140) CUSTOM ORIGINAL PERT BAG W/#3 PONYTAIL BARBIE • This one-of-a-kind item appeared in the February 2004 issue of Barbie Bazaar (magazine will be included) under the column “The Out of this World one-of-a-find Locator” • This delightful Pert Bag was received as a gift in 1961 • It is not clear whether Pert Bag was a licensee of Mattel, or the manufacturer made this on their own • The article states that Mattel did not have any record of this company as a licensee • Pert Bags were quite popular in the 1960-61 era and quite the style • This off-white leather vinyl covered tote bag displays a near mint #3 Brunette Ponytail with terrycloth backing to give her that “beach” or “sand” illusion • Vinyl on tote is in good condition, no tears but shows age discoloration to vinyl • #3 Brunette Ponytail is near mint with beautiful coloring, nice bright blue eyes and brown eyeliner. Accessories include #1 black OT heels, pearl earrings and sunglasses • This Pert tagged tote has watermark stains on the inside of the lining of the purse • What a very cool conversation piece! • Suggested $695-$795 (minimum bid $300)
