124) #3 BLONDE PLAITED PT MIB • Enchanting #3 Ponytail with golden hair has factory braid, with original top and bottom bands present • You will love her full “awning” bangs that frame her forehead • Mattel at times produced dolls with unusual hair styles including up-dos and variations on the braided ponytail. On the braided ponytail dolls, the rooting was thicker so that the braided result was a beautiful full ponytail. This doll features a very and shiny braided ponytail • There have been many discussions and debates whether Mattel did produce the very elusive “plaited” or braided ponytail and you can clearly see from this doll and the Titian PT #039 in the auction that has untouched, original bands, I can safely say the debate is over, they did produce these dolls with a braided ponytail • All original face paint with light tan stenciled brows, enchanting side glance eyes, full red full lips, and beautiful blush on cheeks • Earring holes at ears, whisper of green at earring holes, hoops cover • Face vinyl is a golden color which matches her body perfectly. Under 10x magnification, I saw some light spotting in the pores of the vinyl near the lower jaw area. This does not detract from her beauty, and I have seen this same spotting on other #3 dolls, more than likely attributed to how the vinyl reacts over time. Light spot on back of her shoulder and red dot at arm, could come off with a light cleaning • Torso is the rarely seen nipple body; shoulder seams appear to have some residue at seams I am not sure what it is. It possibly could have been from factory when seams were molded together as she is obviously an unplayed with doll • Beautiful red polish on fingers and toes, no shoe stains on feet • She comes in an excellent “R” box marked Blonde Ponytail and includes original liner, near mint TM 2 pc stand, booklet and black OT heels • Box is TM version, marked Blond, one corner reglued, and box shows shelf wear with bottom of box in fair condition. Corners need to be repaired • What an extraordinary find • Suggested $1200-$1595
