Lead MOD STORE DISPLAY
Description
073) THE WORLD OF BARBIE FASHIONS SEARS EXCLUSIVES RARE STORE DISPLAY • This is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the rarest Barbie Collectibles ever made available for sale. In my 35-year history of Barbie, this piece stands out as the most extraordinary and rarest item I have had the privilege to offer for sale • This jaw-dropping store display is a one-of-a-kind item, the only one known to exist. It’s fascinating history traces back to a collector’s discovery: it was purchased from a former Sears employee who lived on the East Coast. This amazing piece was found along with several other items in a storage shed once owned by an elderly couple who used to run a toy store. • The unique provenance adds to its rarity and makes it a truly exceptional piece for any avid Barbie collector. • This is a rare department store display piece, showcasing Sear’s exclusive fashions for Barbie. • Store displays were primarily designed as a means to attract attention, showcase Barbie fashions, and stimulate consumer interest. They served as a visual and promotional tool for retailers to present these unique fashions that encouraged customers to make purchases. While store displays were not typically produced with the intention of being sold to consumers, there were instances where retailers chose to sell or auction off display items. This could happen, for example, when a store was closing, undergoing renovations, or updating its merchandising strategy. In such cases, collectors or individuals interested in owning a piece of retail history might be interested in purchasing these displays. • History also tells us that these displays were curated by the toy store owners who were provided the empty “shell” of the displays and selected as they saw fit the dolls/fashions they wished to showcase. • Some of these displays had suggestions, hence is why some are identical, and some were given the opportunity to select which items went in the display • Note the difference in wrist tags. Some have the full wrist tag, and some have the small silver foil wrist tag we often seen in the “white box store display” dolls • All of the dolls are factory fresh and carefully affixed in place. How something this rare withstood the test of time is a mystery and will be such a beloved treasure to own • This set features a Blonde TNT wearing a pristine Glimmer Glamour – incredible doll, factory fresh face paint, with some even paling on face. Hair is super shiny, and I can see the original band in PT has disintegrated, remnants are present, bow is perfectly in place. You will love her perfect gold mesh coat with ties and gold satin lining. Blue taffeta dress is speckled in bright gold glitter. Butterscotch hose and gold OT glittered heels complete this set. She comes wearing perfect red/silver wrist tag on wrist • Next is a Light Brownette side ponytail Talking Barbie dressed in Dinner Dazzle. This demure beauty has evenly paled face vinyl, wearing her pristine HTF Sears Exclusive Set with tons of luscious fur at collar. The suit is exceptionally bright, CT hot pink heels are taped to feet. Red/Silver wrist tag has faded • Blonde Talking Stacy is carefully seated next, wearing her Stripes are Happening Ensemble, which is oh so bright. Beautiful light blonde hair with orange bow (appears a bit faded). Her ladylike crossed leg pose is perfect, and she comes with red/silver wrist tag on wrist (faded). • Last, but certainly not least, is a factory perfect rich chocolate color brown hair Standard with bright pink bow on PT. She comes wearing her bright travel ensemble with her blue hose, soft blue bow shoes affixed to feet and includes her ready to travel green hat box. She has her red/silver wrist tag on wrist. • Display box is excellent to near mint, tiny split at the peak of the blister window box, two minor indentations in the front of the plastic. Plastic is nice and clear and there is a small round Mattel logo present on front of display. Please refer to photos for more detailed information • Original price of $25.00 is written in ink on upper left-hand corner, does not show on the front when on display • The back of the display is nice and clean, free of any age wear or spotting of cardboard • The back of box reads “The World of Barbie Fashions” • The fact that this store display remains in such beautiful condition, given its age, is truly remarkable. Its exceptional preservation adds to its value and appeal, making it even more enticing for collectors. The impeccable state of this exquisite piece highlights its rarity and the care taken in its preservation over the years. Owning a vintage item of such quality and condition is a testament to its enduring beauty and the dedication of those who have kept it in such remarkable shape • The scarcity and historical significance of this store display makes it a valuable and highly sought-after addition to any Barbie collection • Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of Barbie history that is both amazing and exceptionally hard to find. • Suggested $9500-$15995
