PINK PREMIERE SAMPLE DOLL SET 34/35) THIS WILL BE FOR BOTH DOLLS • This is your chance to own a breath-taking duo which includes two sample dolls; that I am extraordinarily pleased to offer in this landmark auction • These amazing beauties were originally on display in my museum for over 25 years; and had been on display and enjoyed by collectors globally who have been enchanted with their beauty • Auction 45 was pivotal as they found a new home in that auction but are now back for another opportunity for some lucky collector to own this set. In Auction 45 they were a fight to the finish with one lucky bidder (my consignor) winning this premiere set • Originally, I purchased these dolls from a former Mattel employee; it took me over five years to negotiate the sale, to their new home at the Doll Attic Museum • These dolls were featured on page 49 of my book Barbie a Rare Beauty • First, is the piece de resistance; a white version of the JC Penney Pink Premiere giftset fashion and the only ONE known to exist • It is absolutely breath taking and consists of a white satin dress with four tiers of crystal pleated ruffles on the skirt. Topping the dress is a white satin coat adorned with a gold lame collar and gold buttons. • The fabric is a slightly lighter weight satin than the pink version that was ultimately produced by Mattel • Accessories include sheer white pantyhose, white satin purse with gold trim, gold gloves and white pilgrim shoes • Modeling this incredible outfit is a stunning deep brunette side ponytail Talker • Hair is in original set and is a rich deep chocolate brown • Truly amazing is that the factory bows in her hair are a gold braid rather than the pink grosgrain ribbons which were issued on the production line dolls • This doll has spectacular high color face paint with glossy orange lips and blush • Brilliant blue eyes, perfect lashes and fresh dewy face vinyl • Talking bodies are extraordinarily fragile and I did not attempt to move the arms and legs on these dolls • But wait, that’s not all! Included in this set is a factory mint example of the dressed doll that was produced for the JC Penney Pink Premiere Giftset • Her hair is the same luscious brunette color but with a touch browner than her “twin” • Hair is in the original set with original bands and perfect pink ribbon bows • Her hand painted face is unique and incredible with dark well-defined brows, enchanting blue eyes and puckered tomato red lips • She comes wearing a near mint Pink Premiere fashion which includes coat (1/8” dot of residue on coat near hem), mint dress, matching pink handbag and pink pilgrim shoes and gold gloves. Hose is a light pink with runs at top of hose • Although I realize that the finished version of this fashion came with unique pantyhose with gold ribbon, these dolls do not and that is how I received them • Also distinguishing them from the JC Penney retail version is the unique quality to the face vinyl. The face vinyl on the pink set is very soft and pliable which you rarely see on high color talkers, as it becomes hardened with age. The head of the doll in the white version shows this tendency as her head vinyl is not pliable • Talker rings are present on both dolls, and both satin coats have the Barbie label sewn inside the collars • Suggested $4500-$6500
