#2 BRUNETTE PONYTAIL BARBIE IN JE EXCLUSIVE SPANISH BALLGOWN • This doll is a piece de resistance! What a spectacular item to begin the auction • This extraordinary doll is simply amazing – you must see her to fully appreciate her beauty • Glossy jet-black hair is original with not a hair out of place • Fabulous bottom loose end curl, band in place and you will love her soft thick curly bangs • Alluring face paint is all original with hand painted brows, deep blue eyeliner, huge side glancing eyes and red lips which have some age-related fade at edges • Earring holes at ears, wearing exceedingly rare, beaded earrings unique only to this outfit, no green appears at ears. Beads are loose on one earring loop, loop string needs to be repaired, beads are present, and there are a few loose beads will be included that fell off, and can very easily be repaired • Face vinyl is a lovely pinky ivory color and is a good match with her body which has retained much of its original pink color • Beautiful red polish on toes, we did not remove gloves to check polish on hands • Body appears in excellent condition with beautiful even coloring • What is even more extraordinary is what she is wearing! This very sophisticated costume is considered one of the holy grails of the Japanese Exclusive Fashions and was likely produced in a very small quantity, perhaps due to cost issues as it is quite elaborate • Gown features a red velvet bodice with beautiful velvet, no rubs on velvet (both original snaps are present) • Elastic at the lower edge of puff sleeves is still stretchy • Perfect Barbie label present, no fraying to tag • The skirt of the gown consists of rich taffeta, velvet and brocade, with a satin ruffled tiered underskirt. Underneath the underskirt is a very crispy thick mesh fabric petticoat • Mantilla is in excellent plus condition. The black lace is identical to the mantilla lace of Barbie in Mexico; however, it is much longer in length. No breaks in lace • On Mantilla there is a large ribbon floral ornament affixed to lace, which has the look of a red chrysanthemum • Includes long black tricot gloves and black OT heels • For us Barbie historians this is quite a landmark moment! • This is amazing, and in auction history which spans over 30 years this is only the second time I have had this gown consigned in my auction with the jewelry.
