Lot # : 79 - Nice 1980 Rockola 484 Jukebox plays 45rpm working

This is actually a pretty darn nice 45 Jukebox! It is from my childhood - 1980! I was 12 when this came out, and I would have been really blown away by it. It has such cool 80s styling. Plus the fact that the locations top three hits are "Microcomputed" would have really impressed me. I loved things that were microcomputed. But all kidding aside, this is a pretty decent box. It is in great physical condition as you can see from the photos and video. It appears to be fully working mechanically, although I can't guarantee that. But I selected and played probably 20 different songs and it seemed to work just fine for every one. It is on free play right now, so you can just select records with no cost. I'm sure it is easy to set it back on quarter play if that is what you want, and the coin mech is present. The selector buttons are a little flaky from not being used for decades. You have to press them kind of hard, but I'm sure once you use this for a day or two, they will get back to smooth operation. They all work, just sometimes you have to press twice or press hard. You could also just spray them behind with contact cleaner (which comes in a can like WD-40) and that would make them work smoothly too. The only problem I can see with this jukebox is that the volume doesn't go up very loud, and the right speakers are louder than the left. It's about at the volume I would want it at in my home. But if you were to want to put this in a bar or restaurant, I'm sure you would want it louder. I tried wiggling the volume knob and the connectors, but that didn't make it any louder. The speakers sound fine so I don't think they are blown. I am willing to bet that the problem is the Needle / cartridge. I recently went on a service call where the guy had a jukebox (in addition to the pinball I really went to fix) and he asked me to look at it. It had the same problem where it wasn't very loud. He had purchased a new cartridge off ebay and just needed help installing it. We installed the new cartridge, and it totally solved the problem. So that is why I suspect it's the same thing here. It's just 2 screws and a plug in connector to change the cartridge if I remember correctly. Or you could just keep it as is, if you don't need it loud. The lights are all working and it really lights up pretty in my opinion. Oh, and one other thing - it is FULL of records - 80 in all (or 160 selections). However, the records do not always match what the labels say. In fact I only found a couple out of the 20 I tried where the record matched the label. So you will have a bit of an adventure discovering what songs you actually have on this jukebox.
