It has been hard to find a wheat hoard as fantastic as "The McDonald's Hoard." I have found several hoards of wheats, but after opening a dozen rolls, all I saw was a bunch of junk. As we made small talk, he allowed me to open about a dozen rolls that I picked at random from the tubs, and each roll had me internally smiling wider and wider. After what seemed like a blink of an eye, as I was trying to mask my excitement, we finally came to an agreement on the rolls. As I thanked "The Watchmaker" and prepared to leave, he inquired, "Wasn’t I taking the pennies?" I chuckled and gestured to the huge flight of stairs and said, "Not with my balance." I explained to him that one of our runners would be by to pick them up in a day or two.I gave the boys double time to pick up "The Watchmaker’s Hoard." 2012 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! 28 Coins Inside!. Each set would include uncirculated versions of 14 different coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint facilities. The coins were struck with a brilliant finish. The 2012 Mint Set included coins with rotating designs from ongoing series. Five different America the Beautiful Quarters featured reverse designs representing El Yunque National Forest, Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Acadia National Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and Denali National Park and Preserve. Sealed 2007 United States Mint Set in Original Government Shipped Box, Never Opened! 20 Coins Inside!. Starting with the 2007 Mint Set significantly altered the packaging to coincide with the launch of the Presidential Dollars series, which had the impact of boosting the number of coins per set to 28, compared to 20 coins in the previous year. The sets were the first to include the uncirculated versions of the first four releases of the Presidential $1 Coin Program was highlighted. The Presidents depicted were George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. Their portraits appeared on the obverse of each coin with a common portrayal of the Statue of Liberty on the reverse. The coin series featured incused edge lettering, which contained the date, mint mark, and the mottoes “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust”. The 2007 Mint Sets also included the next five designs released for the State Quarters Program, featuring Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. The remaining coins were the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Dollar. All coins continued to utilize the satin finish, which had been introduced for the annual set in 2005. "The Watchmaker," a hunched-over, very old man, welcomed me inside. The first thing I noticed was the electrical system in the house was the old style, knob and tube, where you pressed little buttons. I was both fascinated and a little creeped out. I followed him down a long hallway past what seemed like countless rooms until finally, he led us into the dining room with a long oak table that had 9 large tubs filled with rolled coins. Just like that, this meeting was sprucing up. Inside the tubs, I found mini hoards of coins. There was a Coca-Cola batch, a Nathan’s batch, a Mills Novelty Company batch (one I had never seen), and a Gimbels and Korvettes grouping, a smaller batch of Radio Shack and TRS-80 ones, and those were just the ones I could reach at the top of the tubs. The satin finish is created by sandblasting blanks prior to striking, which results in coins with frosted, less reflective surfaces. The 2005 Mint Set included a total of 22 different coins. I followed him down a long hallway past what seemed like countless rooms until finally, he led us into the dining room with a long oak table that had 9 large tubs filled with rolled coins. Just like that, this meeting was sprucing up. Inside the tubs, I found mini hoards of coins. There was a Coca-Cola batch, a Nathan’s batch, a Mills Novelty Company batch (one I had never seen), and a Gimbels and Korvettes grouping, a smaller batch of Radio Shack and TRS-80 ones, and those were just the ones I could reach at the top of the tubs. As we made small talk, he allowed me to open about a dozen rolls that I picked at random from the tubs, and each roll had me internally smiling wider and wider. After what seemed like a blink of an eye, as I was trying to mask my excitement, we finally came to an agreement on the rolls. As I thanked "The Watchmaker" and prepared to leave, he inquired, "Wasn’t I taking the pennies?" I chuckled and gestured to the huge flight of stairs and said, "Not with my balance." I explained to him that one of our runners would be by to pick them up in a day or two.I gave the boys double time to pick up "The Watchmaker’s Hoard." You might think the tale ends there, but let me give you the epilogue. Not 20 minutes into my drive home, I got a call from none other than the Long Island guys' stern secretary. She continued today’s soliloquy by advising, not asking or requesting, but advising me that the guys would be paid $2 a roll on top of what I had negotiated with "The Watchmaker" as a finder’s fee. I found lots of teens, lots of mint marks, 20’s, 30’s, and a few uncirculated red ones from the 40’s and 50’s. I found no Flying Eagles, and no Indians in the dozen I opened. As we made small talk, he allowed me to open about a dozen rolls that I picked at random from the tubs, and each roll had me internally smiling wider and wider. After what seemed like a blink of an eye, as I was trying to mask my excitement, we finally came to an agreement on the rolls. As I thanked "The Watchmaker" and prepared to leave, he inquired, "Wasn’t I taking the pennies?" I chuckled and gestured to the huge flight of stairs and said, "Not with my balance." I explained to him that one of our runners would be by to pick them up in a day or two.I gave the boys double time to pick up "The Watchmaker’s Hoard." She continued today’s soliloquy by advising, not asking or requesting, but advising me that the guys would be paid $2 a roll on top of what I had negotiated with "The Watchmaker" as a finder’s fee. I followed him down a long hallway past what seemed like countless rooms until finally, he led us into the dining room with a long oak table that had 9 large tubs filled with rolled coins. Just like that, this meeting was sprucing up. Inside the tubs, I found mini hoards of coins. There was a Coca-Cola batch, a Nathan’s batch, a Mills Novelty Company batch (one I had never seen), and a Gimbels and Korvettes grouping, a smaller batch of Radio Shack and TRS-80 ones, and those were just the ones I could reach at the top of the tubs. As we made small talk, he allowed me to open about a dozen rolls that I picked at random from the tubs, and each roll had me internally smiling wider and wider. After what seemed like a blink of an eye, as I was trying to mask my excitement, we finally came to an agreement on the rolls. As I thanked "The Watchmaker" and prepared to leave, he inquired, "Wasn’t I taking the pennies?" I chuckled and gestured to the huge flight of stairs and said, "Not with my balance." I explained to him that one of our runners would be by to pick them up in a day or two.I gave the boys double time to pick up "The Watchmaker’s Hoard." You might think the tale ends there, but let me give you the epilogue. Not 20 minutes into my drive home, I got a call from none other than the Long Island guys' stern secretary. I said hello, and she quickly launched into telling me that the guys were pleased that the deal went well and that I got the consignment. I was dumbfounded how they knew so quickly. She continued today’s soliloquy by advising, not asking or requesting, but advising me that the guys would be paid $2 a roll on top of what I had negotiated with "The Watchmaker" as a finder’s fee. I found lots of teens, lots of mint marks, 20’s, 30’s, and a few uncirculated red ones from the 40’s and 50’s. I found no Flying Eagles, and no Indians in the dozen I opened. Sealed 2007 United States Mint Set in Original Government Shipped Box, Never Opened! 20 Coins Inside!. Starting with the 2007 Mint Set significantly altered the packaging to coincide with the launch of the Presidential Dollars series, which had the impact of boosting the number of coins per set to 28, compared to 20 coins in the previous year. The sets were the first to include the uncirculated versions of the first four releases of the Presidential $1 Coin Program was highlighted. The Presidents depicted were George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. Their portraits appeared on the obverse of each coin with a common portrayal of the Statue of Liberty on the reverse. The coin series featured incused edge lettering, which contained the date, mint mark, and the mottoes “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust”. The 2007 Mint Sets also included the next five designs released for the State Quarters Program, featuring Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. The remaining coins were the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Dollar. All coins continued to utilize the satin finish, which had been introduced for the annual set in 2005. "The Watchmaker," a hunched-over, very old man, welcomed me inside. There was a Coca-Cola batch, a Nathan’s batch, a Mills Novelty Company batch (one I had never seen), and a Gimbels and Korvettes grouping, a smaller batch of Radio Shack and TRS-80 ones, and those were just the ones I could reach at the top of the tubs. As we made small talk, he allowed me to open about a dozen rolls that I picked at random from the tubs, and each roll had me internally smiling wider and wider. After what seemed like a blink of an eye, as I was trying to mask my excitement, we finally came to an agreement on the rolls. As I thanked "The Watchmaker" and prepared to leave, he inquired, "Wasn’t I taking the pennies?" I chuckled and gestured to the huge flight of stairs and said, "Not with my balance." I explained to him that one of our runners would be by to pick them up in a day or two.I gave the boys double time to pick up "The Watchmaker’s Hoard." She continued today’s soliloquy by advising, not asking or requesting, but advising me that the guys would be paid $2 a roll on top of what I had negotiated with "The Watchmaker" as a finder’s fee. I found lots of teens, lots of mint marks, 20’s, 30’s, and a few uncirculated red ones from the 40’s and 50’s. I found no Flying Eagles, and no Indians in the dozen I opened. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. Civil War Era Boston, Hartford & Erie Railroad $35 Note Grades Select CU. One hundred and fifty years ago, in June 1863, the Boston, Hartford & Erie Railroad was incorporated with the goal of forming a gateway to western markets for New England goods and of bringing coal from Pennsylvania into New England by way of Newburgh, New York, to Waterbury, Connecticut, and beyond. Its lofty goal disintegrated when it came under the control of “as ribald a bunch of crooks as railroad history has ever produced,” wrote D.W. McLaughlin in his article “Poughkeepsie Gateway,” for the October 1968 issue of the Bulletin of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society. The railroad ran into a myriad of troubles, including the realization that building an east-west route across Connecticut would involve navigating the state’s ridge lines, the problem of aligning with the non-standard gauge of track on the Erie Railroad (the western line it would hook up with once the railroad cars crossed the Hudson River), and the lack of a bridge for which to travel over the river. That apparently did not stop the railroad’s promoters from selling stock in the line, which they proceeded to mercilessly raid and pillage. The legislature of the state of Massachusetts was persuaded to give $3,000,000 in grants, odd in that the bulk of the railroad didn’t actually travel in that state, as it went into Connecticut. By the time the graft caught up with all the players, in 1870, the railroad was in bankruptcy with a mere $10.00 left in its accounts, Massachusetts was out all of the money it invested, and very little actual railroad track was ever laid. The remaining assets were transferred to the receivers of the New York & New England Railroad, who rerouted the railroad line from New York City to Boston and eventually became part of the New Haven Railroad system.

There was a Coca-Cola batch, a Nathan’s batch, a Mills Novelty Company batch (one I had never seen), and a Gimbels and Korvettes grouping, a smaller batch of Radio Shack and TRS-80 ones, and those were just the ones I could reach at the top of the tubs. As we made small talk, he allowed me to open about a dozen rolls that I picked at random from the tubs, and each roll had me internally smiling wider and wider. After what seemed like a blink of an eye, as I was trying to mask my excitement, we finally came to an agreement on the rolls. As I thanked "The Watchmaker" and prepared to leave, he inquired, "Wasn’t I taking the pennies?" I chuckled and gestured to the huge flight of stairs and said, "Not with my balance." I explained to him that one of our runners would be by to pick them up in a day or two.I gave the boys double time to pick up "The Watchmaker’s Hoard." The agreement with for the Consignee is that we wire on Friday their portion of the funds for any rolls paid that week and on Mondays we will send our runner up to Long Island to retrieve the rolls for shipment that week from our offices as well as photographing the rolls for the next weeks auction. *EXCLUSIVE* Hand Marked "Unc Peace Premium," x20 coin Covered End Roll! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC). Up for auction is a (20 coin roll marked “Unc Peace Premium” and having two covered ends and weighing 537.5g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard. Inside the vault are hundreds upon hundreds of dollar rolls. Some are 10 coin rolls some are 20, most are hand marked as to what’s inside and most have covered ends. We have opened about 20 of the rolls and have not found any that were mismarked. The vault at one point I believe had the rolls separated into three sections. The markings standard, premium, limited were marked on the sections. Additionally there was a small safe inside the vault marked “Reserve”. But when we first the saw the hoard, the sections were empty as was the small safe. It appeared that at some point the rolls were all put into canvas bank bags, which bags were all lying on the floor of the vault. The agreement with for the Consignee is that we wire on Friday their portion of the funds for any rolls paid that week and on Mondays we will send our runner up to Long Island to retrieve the rolls for shipment that week from our offices as well as photographing the rolls for the next weeks auction.
