WAITING TO HEAR MISSION STATEMENT
Waiting to hear exists for a single reason: To help deaf kids HEAR! We accomplish this by providing programs that support a listening and spoken language outcome for children with hearing loss. Our programs focus on timely access to hearing technology, support for newly diagnosed families, and building a support network to aid families throughout their child’s hearing journey.
Camp H.E.A.R. is open to any child age 4-15 with documented hearing loss AND their immediate family. Camp is designed specifically to benefit families who seek a hearing and spoken language outcome.
Camp H.E.A.R. (Hearing Empowerment and Adventure Retreat) is a one of its kind retreats designed specifically for children with hearing loss AND their families who are seeking a hearing and spoken language outcome. Campers and their immediate family members are invoiced to spend the weekend at one of our amazing partner facilities. Children will get to participate in traditional camp activities like horseback rides, waterslides, swimming, fishing, archery, zip lines, field games, dance parties, and a few special surprises.
HEARING AID BANK: Thanks to a grant from a Bristol TN chapter of Speedway Children Charities, and a partnership with East TN State University Audiology program, waiting to hear created the first hearing aid bank of its time serving East TN and Southwest VA since 2015. The bank loans hearing aids free of charge to children ages birth - 18 years who are waiting for cochlear implant surgery or insurance approval of their own aids.
