We have a local pick up scheduled on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. CST at our facility in Urbana, IL. Pick up is also available on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Within an hour after the auction, you will receive an email from "Shipping Saint," which we require that you use to schedule a pick up appointment. We will also send a separate post-auction email with your invoice, and all of the information in regards to pick up will be included in these 2 important emails. Be sure to check your spam, junk, and promotions folders if these emails do not show up in your inbox. You must schedule an appointment, and you must be available to pick up during the time frame(s) offered, or you can have a friend/family member pick up for you, no exceptions. Complete run of 17 of the Great Lakes Recruit Magazine from April, 1918 to August, 1919. Many athletes left their universities to train and compete at the Great Lakes Naval Academy due to WW including football hall of famers George Halas, Paddy Driscoll and Jimmy Conzelman, as well as Olympians Joie Ray and Perry McGillivray. All are pictured and discussed in these magazines. Halas is in 10 of the 17 magazines participating in football, baseball and basketball. Jack Dempsey is pictured helping train a boxer. Manfucatured by Medallic Art Co., these were first awareded in 1915 to one student-athlete from the graduating class of each University for athletics and scolastic excellence. this medallion was issued to national diving champion & 2008 Olympian Nancilea Underwood. It is a 2014 re-issue due to 1985-2011 Big Ten medal winners being given a different design ad the conference decided to go back to the original design and re-issue the medals to previous winners. Medallion measures 3" diameter, .25" thick and weighs 200 grams. Comes in original box.

Indications are that this is one of two known. 1926 ticket stub for Football game held at Memorial Stadium, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This was Chief Illiniwek's first appearance. Illinois beat Penn in the game 3-0. Seat was west balcony, section CC, row 15, seat 25. Certified authentic in PSA holder. A true piece of history.

Ticket for Illinois Fighting Illini at Ohio (State) football game on Novermber 21, 1921. This was the last game the great Harold "Red" Grange played for the Illini. Five days later he was in Chicago with the Bears. Ticket is marked "Globe Ticket Company, Philadelphia". There is some writing on the back noting the significance of the ticket. Another great historical Illini sports item.

Index card signed by Fighting Illini and Chicago Bears football legend Harold "Red" Grange. Likely obtained when Grange was with the Bears as there is small writing in red pen on the bottom that says ("Red" Grange) H.B. - Chicago Bears - FOOTbALL - CALLed (GALLOping Ghost) 1920's". Autograph is not certified but it matches with certified examples found online.

A mysterious Illinois homecoming button, year unknown, manufactured by Bastian Bros. Co. in Rochester, New York. Bastian Bros., founded in 1895, was a prolific button manufacturer and also made class rings until 1957 for many Universities including Illinois. An expert collector we know did find a similar button stamped for CBC College made in 1930. We have found only two other examples of this button online including one sold by Heritage some time ago where they named it as being from 1920 (according to the same collector we consulted, it is not the official 1920 button matching the one in the Zuppke collection at Memorial Stadium). It is in excellent condition and still has the ribbons. The button is 2.75" by 1.75" (not including the ribbons).

Ticket for the 1972 World Series, game 2, held at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati on October 15, 1972. This was Jackie Robinson's last public appearance where he threw out the first pitch and voiced his hope that Major League Baseball would soon hire it's first African American manager. Robinson would pass away 9 days later on October 24. The Oakland Athletics won the Series in 7 games.
