This is the 4th and final auction of this unique collection that comes from the estate of Henry and Ferne Brewer, who were farmers that enjoyed traveling around the U.S., Mexico, and Canada while waiting for crops to grow and after harvesting. During their travels, they learned about rock hunting and began planning their vacations around good mining places. What started as a hobby in the mid-1970s developed into a passion and continued through the 1990s, until they retired from farming and moved to Table Rock Lake. Even after retiring, they still continued their travels and brought home a few new pieces for their collection. The collection includes pieces from all over the western contiguous states, northwestern Canada, Alaska, and northern Mexico. They wintered in southern Arizona and spent their summers traveling throughout western North America. Areas they hunted around include Gila Bend, Burro Creek, Quartzite, the Painted Desert, Gila National Forest, Deming, Mule Creek, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Saddle Mountain, Eden Valley, Blue Forest, and many more! They joined rockhound groups, attended numerous rock swaps throughout the U.S., and often included their grandchildren in their summer rockhounding adventures. Both of them learned to create beautiful pieces of jewelry, and for Henry, the most thrilling part was finally seeing what his largest treasures looked like on the inside after they spent hours on the rock saw.
