Chassis: 56184 Engine: 6 Cylinder OHV Twin Carbies 2522cc Engine Number: 44171 Body: 3 seat convertible grand tourer Sale includes: Large quantity of original parts to contribute towards the completed restoration of the desirable Daimler. Photo of completed car. History file of accounts totalling $35000 to date. Workshop/Spare parts manual and misc other documents in briefcase. Owner notes: Car purchased in derelict condition at Ballarat swap meet in 1993. A full ground up restoration was embarked upon with a view to “saving” this vehicle rather than completing the work and using the car. It was intended to be seen as part of a private collection, open to the public, to view progress and the nature of the restoration process. The body was removed from the chassis. The chassis sandblasted and painted the assembled to a “rolling chassis” stage with refurbished wheels and new tyres. In parallel the aluminium coach built body was professionally restored. Underside painted and remounted to the chassis. The dashboard/wood trim and instruments are installed to assist with presentation to the public. A coat of wax was applied some years ago to protect the bare finish bodywork. This should be carefully removed before any painting is carried out. Only 600 of these cars were ever built of which may 50% survive worldwide. Worthy restored examples appear to now be commanding $80k- $90k on the world stage. The legendary Indian Scout motorcycle was first seen in 1922 and was, along with larger Chief model, the most successful model ever made by the Springfield concern. Designed by Charles B.Franklin, who joined the company after emigrating from Ireland and ultimately rose to the position of Vice-President, the mid-sized Scout utilised a 600cc V-twin engine and proved a great success through the 1920s and 1930s. Used to run small errands for his engineering business. He purchased it from an elderly gentleman that was past riding; now finds himself in the same position. The previous owner gave the history of the bike back to the early 60's. In 1938 Harley produced 504 U Models priced at $395.00, out of these 504 it is reported that 75 of these U's were purchased with dusting body sidecars on Harley chassis for the Tasmanian Police, but unassured if this U was one of the 75. Stunning time piece of yesteryear. Running a 6 cylinder side valve Hercules petrol engine, 4 speed manual transmission and a Cheetham & Bothwick Of Melbourne body. Attractive cream and green colour combination. Currently on Victorian club registration (sold unregistered). Owners notes: Purchased by the seller in 2002 as a barn find but still registered. Some work had been carried out to the bus to convert it to a mobile home. The seller purchased the vehicle with the intension to utilise it as a chauffeur driven hire vehicle for weddings and winery tours. Work progressed on this basis. Extensive body and mechanical work carried out by the owner but mostly professional establishments. Receipts provided adding up to tens of thousands. Location: Melbourne Year: 1925 Make: Studebaker Model: EQ Special 6 Engine Type: 6 cylinder side valve Body Type: Limousine VIN / Chassis: EQ27719 Being offered UNRESERVED. A stunning and truly unique brass bodied car. Running a 6 cylinder side valve engine with a 3 speed transmission. Currently on full Victorian registration (sold unregistered). Full ground up restoration (photos available). Owners notes: Purchased in 1993 in semi derelict condition but essentially complete. Full ground up restoration over a 2 year period. New timber bodied frame as required. During restoration it was established to be a brass bodied car (not copper as originally thought). The restoration approach was to celebrate this unique feature as far as possible. This included chemical analysis of the brass to ensure any patch/panel repairs were compatible. Original brass from under the roof fabric was used to repair/replace some visible body panels. The wooden wheels were all respoked and new tyres all round. All mechanical/ suspension/ chassis components were replaced or repaired as necessary. The car was put on the road in 1995 and has been continuously on full Victorian registration since. Forming part of a private collection it has been used sparingly as a Museum exhibit, wedding car and for social events. Until proved otherwise it is believed to be the only full bodied brass car in the world.
