June 24th - 7pm Lifeworks of Master Artist… Anthony Mercogliano This auction comprises the artworks of Anthony Mercogliano and is the final auction event for his estate holdings. Anthony Mercogliano, who moved to the South Carolina in the 90's from New Jersey, was a master artist whose career spans over five decades. The epical career of Mercogliano is hallmarked with volumes of inventive accomplishments. The private and somewhat reclusive Mercogliano has achieved in his prolific career entirely new concepts of visual creativity. His works are variant combinations of styles, events, times and places, coupled with his unorthodox approaches. Mercogliano has produced some prized works of art and has sold pieces in private & public showings for thousands of dollars. In 1981, Mercogliano created the Italian American Flag. The production of the flag accelerated his career into higher acclaim. The four-by-six-foot work synthesizes the national colors of Italy and America. Mercogliano received enormous honors and publicity for his bold and striking masterwork and in 1982, the New Jersey State Senate recognized his noble achievement, and presented the artist with a resolution commending his history-revealing design. The flag is dedicated to the memory of the artist's father, Chester Mercogliano. As a master artist and champion inventor of art styles, techniques and variation of art forms, Mercogliano achieved entirely new contributions in the art world. Mercogliano's works are signposts of his life and of history. This collection will be on display at the Anderson Arts Center, Carnegie Building, 405 Main Street, Anderson SC 29624 and both the preview and pickup will be from this location.
