100) BRIO STORE DISPLAY AMERICAN GIRL IN CAMPUS SWEETHEART
• This item certainly will be the crowning jewel of your collection
• Brio, who was a distributor for Mattel in Scandinavia in the 1960’s, distributed custom store displays and dressed box dolls which rarely surface. Brio had a company policy that required dealers to return all Brio promotional merchandise back to Brio. As a result, these special items normally have not survived for collectors to acquire them and hence considered extremely rare
• This incredible item features Swedish graphics on a beautifully preserved display board, and also showcases an amazing long haired American Girl dressed in a mint & complete Campus Sweetheart outfit
• What is intriguing about this piece is that the graphics relate to the 1965 version of Barbie’s Queen of the Prom Game, and feature the white box illustration of this game
• Research indicates that this may have been a store display relating to the introduction of the Queen of the Prom Game, as the Swedish writing on the display refers to “Barbie Playing Queen of the Ball”
• The doll is an amazing long hair brunette, with deep coral lips, striking face paint and dark brows
• Hair is shiny mint and pristine
• Although she is mint by all appearances, we did notice her left hip is swingy at socket; she is attached to the display board and definitely has not been reattached nor has the wire has been disturbed, so we feel this is how she came from the factory
• She is wearing a pristine and complete Campus Sweetheart, her red open toe shoes are pinned to her feet through her soles, and she holds her shiny silver loving cup in her left hand, roses are in her right hand. The loving cup and roses have been sewn onto her gloves. We do recognize that Campus Sweetheart, US Version, came with pink OT heels, and feel that the red OT heels were original to the Scandinavian market
• The display board is a two layered fiberboard construction, the underlying board is bright yellow with a few rubs in the paint at the corners. The top layer is painted black and has red, white and yellow graphics
• Backing has some surface damage on the back of board, it does NOT affect the front of the display
• She will come to you in her special custom-made Plexiglass case with attached lid
• Suggested $2595-$3995
