Custom ordered in 1971 and completed in 1972 - handmade serial # 82 (approx 350 guitars were built) Modern Series # 2 Sitka Spruce top, figured mahogany back and sides, three piece neck, offset bridge pins, elaborate peghead inlay, large volute neck with inset Spertzel tuning machines, triple bound and double bound sound hole in ebony, double bound binding, strap peg matches the center line binding. Made in an old schoolhouse in Longmont, Colorado, by expert craftsman Monty Novotny, Reb Bennett and Bernie Nettersheim (N.B.N.) who produced exceptional guitars under the NBN name until 1976. One of the first small builders of the time to really take off, NBN produced original, unique guitars that are extremely well-built, NBN was a company making and repairing guitars, banjos, and other stringed instruments in the late 1960's - 1976. Some amazing guitarists which bought and played their instruments. (Leo Kottke, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Peter Yarrow, Steven Stills ++ ) George Gruhn wrote very highly of these guitars in a "Frets Magazine" article dated November of 1987. Includes hard case, two original NBN hangtags, and some 1960's- 70's strings, the original invoice from 8/24/1971 (Cost was $478.95) and two letters from Reb Bennett, one is an update 3/16/72 updating the progress and outlining some of the delays. The second letter on 4/8/1972 explains that the guitar is finished (after nearly 8 months) and it will ship once they receive the remaining balance, and to not include tax, since it's going out of state.
