THIS IS A BENEFIT AUCTION We are auctioning off a basketball signed by Caitlin Clark, #22 for the Iowa Hawkeye's Women's basketball team, recently awarded The Associated Press women’s basketball Player of the Year. About Caitlin Clark: From a young age, Caitlin Clark has had a laser focus on her goal of being a successful basketball player and making it to the WNBA. Her success is no accident, but rather the result of years of hard work, sacrifice, and the support of a loving family. She played various sports as a child, but then began focusing on basketball in middle school as a member of the elite All Iowa Attack travel team. She went on to play for Dowling Catholic High School, where she quickly gained attention as a Gatorade Player of the Year, Iowa Miss Basketball, McDonald’s All-American and a five-star recruit who was heavily sought-after by top programs. She was also a member of the USA National Team, winning three gold medals in international competition and the title of MVP. Caitlin chose to stay in her home state as an Iowa Hawkeye, where she has become one of the top players in the nation. She averages 27.3 PPG and leads the nation in assists. She is also the first player in history – men’s or women’s - to record a 40 point triple-double in the NCAA tournament. This success culminated in being awarded the Naismith National Player of the Year for 2023. Caitlin is known for her passion, “Logo 3’s”, and her dedication to her fans. She can be seen spending hours after a game signing autographs, taking selfies, and inspiring younger athletes to reach their own goals. Proceeds: Among the athletes that Caitlin has inspired is her cousin, who competes in the Iowa Junior High School Rodeo Association along with many others across the state. Similar to Caitlin’s experiences, our rodeo athletes work hard to reach their goals and have families who support them in this endeavor. We send teams to the National Junior High Finals annually, with the 2023 Junior High National Finals competition being held in Perry, GA and a team to the 2023 High School National Finals being held in Gillette, Wyoming. Caitlin has graciously donated this ball to be auctioned off as a way to offset expenses for the families making the long journey to support their kids; just as her family has supported her. All proceeds will go to the Iowa High School and Junior High Rodeo National Finals Qualifiers.
