Built by Loewe in Berlin, this 1891 Mauser was made on commission from Argentina to replace their Remington Rolling Blocks. This firearm features many traits typical of early Mauser pattern firearms, such as a single stack magazine, early extractor, no rear locking lug and cock on close bolt. It is chambered in 7.65x53 Mauser, which was the result of considerable experimentation by Paul Mauser to optimize bullet diameter for use with the then new smokeless-powder. This example has been Sporterized, with a shortened forend and sling swivel. The crest on the front receiver band has been scrubbed. Rifle appears to be in good working order.
