Sea Witch was an American clipper ship designed by naval architect John W. Griffiths for the China trading firm of Howland & Aspinwall. She was launched at Smith & Dimon in Manhattan on December 8, 1846. Sea Witch, in fact, had more influence on the configuration of fast vessels than any other ship built in the United States. Vessels built in general accordance with the Sea Witch model were known as clippers, a term already well entrenched in the language of fast vessels. The figurehead was a Chinese dragon with an open mouth and a partly coiled tai. "Howland & Aspinwall gave the command of Sea Witch to Captain Robert Waterman, known in the trade as "Bully Bob" Waterman. This Civil-War dated Coehorn Mortar was developed in the 17th century to deliver short-range plunging fire, this larger 24lb model fires a 16.8-pound shell with 1/2 pound of powder with a range of 20-1200 yards depending on elevation. Bronze Mortar with wood carriage measures approx. 21" x 28" x 24". The huge casting shows age and is possibly a recast. It shows evidence of polishing and is stunning. The wood base is either restored or newer. "The small ‘Coehorn mortar’ weighed 296 pounds and could be carried by four men. Mexico circa 1890-1900 ' a fine classic Saltillo serape with an indigo blue background and yarns of black, white, red, and magenta, c. 1890, some loses due to age, the central image is an unusual cast of concentric circles filled with miniature aggregate diamonds and repeated bands on the ends, woven in a loom with two conjoined canvases, measures approx. 79" x 47"

Late 19th, early 20th century from the Teotitlán del Valle, district of Tlacolula, Oaxaca. In the design of this piece, both the central medallion and the white background with dotted rhombus' echo the scheme of the "classic Saltillo" sarapes. The early weaving techniques of the Tlacolula Valley, show the influence of these sarapes. Not always used as jorongos, as in this example, the design of the Serape remains analogous to the poncho and persists in the emphasis of the central design. Hand-spun sheep wool, probably with a sheath, from a cable. The serape was woven in a pedal loom on two canvases. Measures approx. 74" x 64" A very similar example hangs at the Museo Textil de Oaxaca exposition: 'Ponchos, gabanes y jorongos de Saltillo a Patagonia'
