Impressive & monumental antique flintlock wall or swivel gun, circa. 1740-1760. Probably Dutch manufacture. Heavy 45.25"L, 1.5" W smooth-bore octagon-to-round barrel with fixed swivel post mount. Note pitting from exposure to the elements and oxidization. Huge flintlock 8 6/8" W which is unmarked and probably of Dutch form. Steel trigger guard of a wide flat form. Steel side plate and barrel band at muzzle. No butt plate or ram rod. The stock is solid with typical wear and scratches from use. Original flintlock configuration and in good mechanical order. Size 65.5" overall.

Rare antique Austrian saddle with wooden frame, circa 1610-1680. Saddle constructed of a wood frame covered with padded fabric to interior, stitched padded leather to exterior, embossed panels of brass and tacks, and wrought iron mounts. Bow and cantle bound with brass central embossed plate featuring a crowned double-headed Imperial Eagle. Includes buckles and retains a single stirrup. Size 17" L x 16 1/2" H.

One stirrup absent and it's leather strap broken. Other condition issues commensurate with age including cracked leather and other losses.

19th century Ifugao, northern Luzon Island. Finely carved Philippines Bulul rice god dancing, with arms outstretched, thin slit eyes, lightly protruding triangular nose and slightly open mouth. Arms socketed into place with palms downward. Fine dark encrusted aged patina throughout. Size 19 1/2" W, 18 3/4" H

Good overall condition with wear and patina commensurate with age.

Monumental and Truely Magnificent Nok Female Seated Figure on custom stand. She is seated with very fine detailing and finish, minimal shell visible throughout the slip and still with great detail to her necklace and features overall. Both ears elongated, hands raised at either side just above her chest, and a detailed loin cloth with ringed anklets. Nok figures and the discovery of the culture circa 1928 has indicated the remains of the Nok civilization once span a large area of Nigeria, Niger, and portions of Eastern Benin. The figures are marked by a style of elongated faces with horizontal triangular eyes and often depict warriors or important figures. The terracotta when in great condition exhibits a smooth slip and when worn the shell or white specks become visible in the layers revealed with wear and handling.

Originally developed in the 14th century, rondel daggers were primarily used as a sidearm by knights and men-at-arms. They were particularly popular during the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance period. Rondel daggers were versatile weapons, used for both thrusting and slashing motions in close combat situations, especially when grappling or fighting in armored combat. Size 19" L, 12 1/2" L blade

Solid metal guard with an American eagle head pommel entirely made of metal. Bone carved grip with linear incised designs, patinated over time and use. Guard is arched with five bulb details in ascending to descending order. Blade is finely etched and a technique known as "bluing" was used to emphasize the fine details. Bluing of weapons and firearm barrels was common practice dating back to the eighteenth and nineteenth century, and took fine skill to achieve even heat to color specific sections. Size overall 33 1/2" L, blade 28" L

Beautifully quality jambiya dagger in scabbard with heavily ornamented and complete belt, first half of the 20th century. The broad, deeply curved, double edged blade with thick mid-rib. One piece buffalo horn hilt decorated with inlaid nail head design, two iron rivets with round brass escutcheons in the form of ancient coins, narrow gilt silver ferrule tooled with Arabic inscriptions. The wooden scabbard entirely sheathed in finely worked silver with openwork and granulation on the lower portion and an elongated bulbous finial (repaired). The mouth portion covered with embroidered fabric retained with braided green leather strapwork, the reverse entirely covered in plain fabric. The wide, thick belt with gold thread embroidery in rows of geometric elements on the obverse, plain fabric on reverse, with five silver rosettes fitted with loose-rings applied along with three large silver fittings decorated in the same technique as the scabbard. A silversmith's stamp in Arabic on the reverse of one of the large silver fittings. Belt 39" L, dagger 12 1/4" L, blade 8 1/2" L. This dagger is a type called a Thouma and was worn by magistrates (Qadi) in Yemeni religious courts, and by the tribal nobility (Sayyidi) claiming descent from the prophet Mohammed. The workmanship of the scabbard, belt and its ornaments is consistent with that of Jewish craftsmen who monopolized the silver and blacksmiths trades in Sana'a, Yemen, prior to their emigrating to Israel en masse from the 1950s onward.

Finial repaired, else in excellent condition overall.

West Asia, Yemen. Fine and large Yemeni silver mounted dagger and embroidered belt. Slender, double edged blade of moderate curvature, with stiff medial ridge, somewhat crudely forged, sharp edges, on a horn hilt retained by three dome headed rivets and with silver ornamentation on the front face, decorated with geometric applique designs. The wood scabbard with matching silver throat and chape, the center portion covered with brown leather, attached to a belt with applique and stitched leather in simple geometric designs of white, red, and green. Size belt 35 1/2" L, dagger 20 1/2" L, blade 16" L.

Front long bladed dagger, some of which assume the dimensions of short sword, are characteristic of the northwestern Yemen and adjoining areas of Saudi Arabia and are called Saboki.

The whole in fine condition overall and complete.

Igorot or mountaineer in English refers to a large group of multiple ethnic peoples in the mountain region of Northern Luzon. The headhunters or executioners axe is a sharp bladed weapon constructed of hammered steel and found use in carving wood or other daily activities in addition to its namesake.

Congo, Executioners sword known as a Ngulu with a multipronged blade and sickle like forward section. Red pigment applied to the edged side of the blade and textured surface to the reverse half. Lightly fullered to the ricasso area. Wood handle with flat wrapped steel grip. Size 28" L, blade 20 1/4" L

By the 20th century, the ngulu had been transformed into a ceremonial dance blade due to the rules of colonial powers which outlawed execution and cannibalism which had been widespread at the time. The Ngombe in particular were known as voracious cannibals and man-hunters, commonly raiding and killing for cannibal celebrations.

Good U.S. Military model 1836 flintlock service pistol by R. Johnson, 1843 which was converted to percussion for the American Civil War (1860-1865). Round .54 caliber barrel is 8.5" L and stamped at the breech with inspector's mark (JH) over (P) with a brass blade front sight. The lock is stamped with (US) over (R. Johnson) over (Middn Conn) over (1843). Captive steel ramrod. Stock has remnants of (2) inspector's cartouche's stamped on the left side of the stock at the rear of the side plate, and the number (82). The stock is solid with scratches and dings from years of service. All steel parts have light areas of salt & pepper pitting which was cleaned and coated with a thin layer of old protective clear varnish. Scarce steel panel massive high quality matchlock wall gun or cannon, made in India, circa. 18th century. Heavy iron smooth-bore barrel with polyangular section at the breech and at the swamped muzzle and has arsenal inventory information stamped on the top flat of breech. Secured to the stock by five copper barrel bands. The matchlock mechanism in fine working order. The gun has flat sections of iron sections. All iron surfaces exhibit areas wear from use. The wood stock is made in two pieces and is solid with a decorative fluted element at the bottom section where the fore-end starts with overall scratches and dings from years of service. The massive gun weighs 20 pounds and has two sling swivels and an iron ram rod. Barrel 42.75", slightly over 1" bore, 1/2" thick walls, 63.5" overall

Excellent Spanish high art folding-stock miquelet flintlock carbine with Italian chiseled steel mounts in the manner of 1750. Barrel is 16 7/8" long and .69 caliber with octagonal breach, "wedding band" changing to round, muzzle ring and integral front sight. Fine quality "Patilla" miquelet lock with floral engraving and scrolling. Chiseled steel breech tang and steel surrounded in high relief with foliage. Side plate chiseled in relief to match. Trigger plate chiseled to match with no guard except when the carved stock is folded to accommodate. Dense Spanish walnut stock inlaid with three decorative chiseled steel plates. Very elaborate panel to entirety of the butt plate. All mounts matching. Barrel retained with two Spanish pierced openwork steel bands. Bore is fine and action is excellent. With original ramrod. A fantastic and rare Spanish carbine custom made in the Italian manor. Size 29 1/2" L, barrel 16 3/4" L

Exceptional cased brace of Percussion Belt Pistols by "RICHARDSON, CORK" with accessories circa, 1835-1845. .50 cal. steel octagon 3.25" barrels with Birmingham proof marks and captive ram-rods mounted on an under mounted rib. Each pistol has a side mounted steel belt hook. All steel parts are engraved and case hardened retaining approximately 95-98% original fire blue and case hardened finish. Side mounted percussion hammers. Stocks are in excellent to near factory new condition with exceptional micro-checkering and each has a silver oval wrist escutcheon. Pistols are 8.5" overall length and in good working order. The original period box has brass corners, reinforcing stripes, single swing hook in the front, and a decorative brass escutcheon in the center of the lid. The interior of the box has been professionally restored/re-lined in the correct English green baize. Accessories include; bullet mold, pewter oil bottle, (2) " ELEYS " cap tins with caps, additional ram-rod with cleaning jag/ball puller, balls, wads, and a wonderful (3) compartment " SYKES " powder flask. Vibrant plume with red and blue over an Italian red, white, and green rondel of folded fabric under the flaming cannon ball. Originally founded as the police force of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the forerunner of the Kingdom of Italy. During the process of Italian unification, the Carabinieri were appointed as the "First Force" of the new national military organization. Although the Carabinieri assisted in the suppression of opposition during the rule of Mussolini, they were also responsible for his downfall and many units were disbanded during World War II by Nazi Germany. Which resulted in large numbers of Carabinieri joining the Italian resistance movement during war time. Size 16" L x 17" H (top of feathers)

Maya jade dream masks were likely used in rituals associated with death and the afterlife. They were believed to facilitate the transition of the deceased to the realm of the ancestors or the underworld. Rare Chinese sandstone Luohan head. The carved face of an old enlightened follower of Buddha detailed with wrinkles, elongated earlobes, wide nose and smiling in a jovial appearance. Probably Ming Dynasty or earlier 1368-1644

In traditional Buddhist belief, a Luohan is a disciple who has attained enlightenment through intense personal effort. Luohan's are followers of the Buddha who have reached enlightenment, but have not yet attained the higher state of nirvana. They protect the Buddhist faith and its teachings. Size 7 1/5" H x 8" L

Previously mounted on a stand now absent, the remaining mount hole filled with composite for a small round shaft instead of the large square wood peg hole still visible around the filling. Various knicks and chips throughout with the face in good detail.

Chinese hand crafted horses and carriage with detailed metal work throughout each piece, ready for wonderful colored enamel to be applied and finish the masterpieces. Chinese cloisonne is made in various stages and is considered a group effort as first the metal worker makes the base horse, carriage and rider. Then the next artist works on detailing the base pieces with fine thin copper wire. Finely the last artist will be the one to finely ground and create enamel powders in different colors to finish the piece. Size 9 1/2" L x 5 3/4" W

Lovely detailed Chinese bronze chicken spout ewer with lion head handle, chain for suspension above an open flame, bulbous gourd or pumpkin shaped body. This ewer is in the final stage of craftsmanship before it would have been sent to the enamel artist to create an incredibly colorful cloisonne ewer. Each bare spot in between wire details would be filled with different vibrant colors of ground pigments throughout. Size 2 3/4" W x 3" H

Early Ifugao wood carved standing Filipino Rice God with textile belt in blue red and white. Broad shouldered figure, standing in a slight squat position with arms at his side. Almond slit eyes, rectangular protruding nose, small protruding ears. Carved from a single piece of wood including an accordion squared base. Inventory sticker on the base purports the piece to be Poitan Bulul. Size 22 3/4" H, 6" W

Philippines wood carved rice god statue, depicted seated with his knees to his chest, arms rested on his knees. With little detail, the Bulul is still very expressive with a contemplative or meditative look, slit eyes, mouth, small protruding nose, and elongated ears. Hands and feet are both slightly visible with slit detail for fingers and toes. Size 20 3/4" H, 6" W

Green died rattan and bamboo reinforced Philippines hat with red painted detailing to the outer rim. Incredible time and detail went into braiding and completing such a wide brimmed hat. Such hats are traditional lightweight headgear from the Philippines that is commonly used during pre-colonial era up to the present day, used for protection against the sun and rain. Size 12 1/2" W

Patina and wear commensurate with age and use.

Two very well crafted backpacks made in the Philippines, with braided rattan and bamboo. Smaller light brown backpack has a lid secured by two strands of braided rattan, while the larger darker backpack has one strap across the top to secure the lid. Size of largest 9 1/2" H, 7 3/4" W

Beadwork is original, glass beads varying from red, yellow, blue, white, black and green, bronze bells, tassels and a decorative horn carving. West Africa, Ghana, Asante Royal court throne chair known as an Asipim or stand form royal chair of the Asante court. Exclusively used by chiefs and court figures with innumerable European brass embossed panels, appliques, tacks and "Mpeaboo" gold weight shaped decoration over the wood with hide seat bottom. The top of the chair decorated with two finials known as "Ntuatire", often in a eagle talons form. Among chieftain the more chairs (Asipim) an Akan chief posses the more powerful they are. Some lesser chief only posses four thrones while very powerful chief possess 14 or more. Size 29 1/2" H, 17 1/2" W, 14 7/8" D

Early stool were one of the most important type of court regalia with complicated variations and designations of male and female throne too plentiful to list. This example with a flat rectangular base, series of geometric pierced openings and four circular columns or struts with scalloped decorated edged. The center of the throne is a square column that also supports the upturned U shaped sitting platform. Pierced with a square cut opening to the base under the hollowed out central column.
