Lead | Roseville Pine Cone Experimental Brown 1930s Vase |
Description |
Roseville Pine Cone Experimental Brown 1930s Vintage Pottery Ceramic Floor Vase. Large, rare, and experimental vase in the Pine Cone Style, designed by Frank Ferrell.. This vase comes from the estate of the grandson of Wade France, the last employee of the Roseville plant who worked there for 58 years. It was said that the vase was too fragile to ship and thus was not put into production..Excellent condition. Has a minor professional restoration to the branch handle. No other chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind. Factory firing line in base as shown..Vase is 18" tall and 8 1/2" wide.. Clean and estate fresh.. Roseville Pottery was established in Roseville, Ohio, in 1890. Over the years, the company expanded its production to include a wide range of decorative wares, and by the early 20th century, Roseville had shifted its focus toward producing finely crafted art pottery in response to the growing Arts and Crafts movement. Popular lines like Rozane, Della Robbia, and Pinecone helped establish Roseville as a leading American art pottery maker, known for its high-quality craftsmanship and distinctive, nature-inspired designs.. Roseville Pottery ceased operations in 1954, largely due to changing consumer tastes and increased competition from mass-produced ceramics. Despite its closure, Roseville pottery remains highly sought after by collectors due to their historical significance, artistic appeal, and the wide variety of shapes and patterns. Collectors prize Roseville for its floral motifs and elegant designs, with middle period patterns, such as Sunflower, Blackberry, Futura, Wisteria, and Baneda considered particularly sought after and valued by today’s collectors. These factors continue to make Roseville Pottery a staple in the American art pottery collecting world..
