This is a particularly interesting sale, highlighted by an extensive selection of Collins and Rockwell Collins equipment from the estate of a longtime Midwestern collector. The collection includes everything from familiar Collins amateur gear to considerably more unusual commercial and military equipment, including several pieces seldom encountered in the amateur market. Among the highlights are Rockwell Collins 451S-1 receivers, 95S-1A receiver, VP-100 Voice Privacy Unit, HF-380 and HF-380A transceivers, HF-8050A receiver, HF-8060 RF preselector, HF-8014A and HF-8092 equipment, along with a KWM-380 and numerous classic Collins S-Line components.
Some of the Collins equipment is quite unusual, and several pieces may have developmental, prototype or other special significance. We have described these items based on the information available to us, but Collins aficianados and collectors will undoubtedly recognize details that we may not. Also included are Collins R-390, R-390A and R-389 military receivers, a 51J-4, 476D-1 Distortion Analyzer Monitor, 302C-3 wattmeter, microphones and other accessories.
Beyond the equipment itself is a great group of Collins advertising, dealer and company memorabilia, including a lighted Authorized Sales & Service sign, Collins Avionics dealer sign, KWM-380 banner, corporate photographs, stock certificates, Zippo lighters, mugs and other pieces that should appeal to serious Collins collectors.
The auction certainly isn't limited to Collins. Modern amateur equipment includes a FlexRadio Power Genius XL amplifier and Flex-6600 SDR, along with an Elecraft K3/100, P3 Panadapter, KAT500, KPA100/KAT100 combination and K2. ICOM equipment includes the IC-PW1 and IC-2KL amplifiers and several transceivers, with additional equipment from ACOM, Kenwood, Yaesu, Drake, Ten-Tec, JRC and others.
Rounding out the sale is an excellent assortment of test equipment, Bird wattmeters, station accessories and telegraphy, including a Begali Signature Edition paddle and a large selection of Vibroplex bugs, straight keys, sounders and related pieces. With nearly 250 lots, this is an unusually diverse sale with something for the Collins collector, modern ham operator, telegraph collector and just about everyone in between.
