Welcome to our Late September Rug, Art and Rare Book Auction. Just remember a few things about The Rug Life. Unlike other auction houses; " We are a relatively new auction house. We have a smaller bidder base. Because of that, you can leave an initial bid, not pay any attention to it, and you will likely win that auction for that item. We know that this will change in the future as we increase our bidder base. But for now, bid on an item and expect to win it with that initial bid. " We charge a flat fee to package and deliver your rug (or painting/books) to a shipper of your choice. This saves you the hassle of arranging all of that. But it also saves you a pickup charge, and a packaging charge. Generally, the charge is $20.00. If it's a singular book or small item, it might be $10.00. This charge is always added into your invoice immediately after the auction closes. " We wash our rugs before we ship them out to you. This will save you hundreds of dollars. Other auction houses get rugs from consignors and don't clean them before they are sent to you. You then must arrange, and pay for, the cleaning of that rug. With the Rug Life, you can open our package and start enjoying your rug immediately! " We take 6 - 10 photos of each rug. This way, you can get an accurate look at the rug. We also take pictures of the backside (with a ruler) so that you can get an idea of the knot count, known as the KPSI or knots per square inch. " We acquire rugs, art and books that have little or no wear issues. If there are minor wear issues, we'll disclose them to you in our description and photos. " We are very descriptive about the items that we auction. For example, we will tell you about a rug, and then try to offer a history of that type of rug.
