Fantastic sports memorabilia & autographs collected by Bud as he covered the top sporting events of the 1960’s-70’s as a writer for Sports Illustrated. Original artworks from Leroy Neiman & others. A Winchester 1886 rifle given to him as the screen writer for the Steve McQueen film, Tom Horn. Memorabilia & relics from “The Lion of Texas Letters” (as the Austin-American Statesman paper dubbed him). One of Texas’ most celebrated authors, & member of “Mad Dog Inc.” Bud had a front row seat to some of the most iconic events in the world (& Austin Texas) in the 1960’s-70’s. Shrake was Texas Governor Ann Richards companion for 17 years, until her death in 2006. As the "first gentleman of Texas," he escorted Richards to her inaugural ball.
