A "soft close" is described as when an auction is extended by 2 additional minutes if a bid is placed during the "closing" minutes of an auction. Bidding will extend for 2 minutes for each time this happens. Bidding will not end until 2 minutes has passed without an acceptable bid. Please be aware that bidding will not end for every item at 5:00 pm. The lots have a "staggered" ending time, which means only 4 lots will end every minute. Therefore ending the auction will take at least an estimated 2 hours and may continue longer depending on the number of "last minute bids". If there are items throughout the beginning, middle, and end of the listings, make sure you set aside a few hours to watch the bids ending on those items you are interested in. You could place your "Maximum Bid" (The most you are willing to pay for an item) at anytime prior to the close of that item. The auction site will bid "competitively" up to your "Maximum Bid" , but only if there other customer bids being placed as well.
