Description
Lot comes directly from the family of John Picus "Jack" Quinn, born Joannes (Jan) Pajkos (July 1, 1883 – April 17, 1946), was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. Quinn pitched for eight teams in three major leagues (the American, Federal, and National) and made his final appearance at the age of 50. In 23 Years in the Majors he posted an impressive 247-218 record with a 3.29 era striking out 1329 batters and saving 56 games.During his career, Quinn played alongside 31 different members of the Baseball Hall of Fame and collected two World Series rings in three tries. He was also one of the last pitchers in baseball permitted to throw the spitball. He started his career with the NY Highlanders and played for the Yankees and A's during their Golden Years. He held the record for the oldest player to hit a homerun until broken by Julio Franco approx. 70 years later. The lot consists of a 1929 Composite Photo of the Philadelphia A's by Burke & Koretke measuring 7" x 19"and features the Two Owners John and Tom Shibe, Wm. Gleason Coach, Connie Mack Manager, Eddie Collins Captain, Al Simmons, Lefty Grove, Jimmy Foxx, Joe Cronin and others. Also included is another Composite Photo 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" small tear in the crease over "Shores". The lot also has a Pennsylvania Hall of Fame certificate presented in 1984 posthumously, a T-205 Card of Quinn as a Yankee and A Signed Die Cut photo Stand Up of Quinn autographed" Best wishes Uncle Jack". Fantastic lot for the true Philadelphia Baseball Fan.
