HAS THE HEART CUT OUT PATTERN, WITH BEADED AND CLAW SUSPENSION. ON TAG: 1790-1840 MISSOURI WAR HATCHET WITH EAGLE CLAW AND WIRE WOUND BEADS. NOTARIZED CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY THE MUSEUM OF LOST ARTS: VERY EARLY 1850-1870 MISSOURI WAR TOMAHAWK WITH THE ORIGINAL HAFT BLEEDING HEART DESIGN CUT OUT IN BLADE. BEADS, WAMPUM AND CLAW ARE ATTACHED TO A THONG ON THE HAFT. RARE ITEM - SAME TYPE FOUND USED BY THE INDIANS BY THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION. HEAD: 7 3/4" L X 4 1/2" W BLADE X 1 1/16" W EYE. DOUBLE FLARE BUT NOT SYMMETRICAL. ROUND EYE: 1 3/8" D. PITTED OVERALL. HAFT: 19 5/8" L. 2 PIERCED HOLES FOR SUSPENSIONS, 1 AT MID-HAFT WITH SUSPENSION OF HIDE LACE WITH LARGE RED GLASS BEAD, LARGE BLUE GLASS BEAD, SHELL HEISHE BEAD, EAGLE? TALON, LARGE GREEN GLASS BEAD, 2 LARGE HEISHE BEADS, 2 SMALLER HEISHE DISC BEADS. THE OTHER HOLE NEAR BUTT. LARGE 1 5/16" D BRASS TACK FORE END CAP. 7/8" BRASS TACK BUTT CAP.
